If you were to ask me last year what my favorite day of the week was, it would have been Friday, hands down. There's something to be said about wrapping up a work week, having the weekend stretching out in front of you, making plans and purposefully not making plans so you can lounge around in those ripped sweats and a messy bun and not care. Coming in close second would have been Sunday, which I dubbed my hibernation day. Working an 8-5, Monday through Friday job with a full social life made this 52% extrovert and 48% introvert need that day of solitude and rest.
Fast forward to now, and it's not an automatic that a weekend day is my favorite. One, I love the challenge of owning my own business, so there's something to look forward to everyday. Two, owning your own business means there aren't truly things like weekends or days off - at least in these early days for me! But I would have to say that Sundays still rank high on my favorite days. It's slower, I can get so much done at the store, and there's a relaxed, peaceful vibe that seems to settle over everyone. In a world of go, go, go, Sundays are a slow-drip coffee followed by a meandering snowshoe hike through the woods.
But there are just some days, like today, I can't turn my brain to slow. With to-do's spinning through my head at an exhausting rate, I finally snapped myself out of the tail spin into procrastinating on everything [case in point - just spent 20 minutes looking for that meme about procrastination that is extremely relevant then realized what was happening...no meme today, just more blog]. Anyways, the easiest on my to-do list today was to post something on social media yet I couldn't focus enough to get inspired, so I turned to some of my favorite blogs. Let me tell you, there are women out there who slay. One of my favorites whom I've mentioned before is the lovely Kalin from Stems & Sprigs, and she wrote this post "on slow cooker meals and slow home improvements."
Yes, girl. Thank you. Because even though I still can't decide what color to repaint the store or what type of shelving I want to bring in and I still haven't hung The Really Important Board, today is a beautifully sunny Sunday, the projects will get completed, and the moment of glory that dances behind my eyelids when I close my eyes at night will come. And then I'll get to work on the next one. But right now, on this Sunday, I'm going to make a mug of tea and and breathe in the warmth that comes from knowing that everything can take its time, and its time is not today, and that's okay.
...but if you have a color vision for the store, come talk to me...
For the love of life & style,
